Mongoose Pete

At SGS Africa, we are proud to associate with the most interesting characters here in the four corners of Africa. This time we are teaming up with Mongoose Pete.pete-pencil-copper1

Mongoose Pete (a.k.a Peter N Laver), got his nickname because he spends his time watching the different mongoose troops that inhabit the region. He’s currently Research Assistant at the Centre for Conservation of African Resources: Animals, Communities and Landuse (CARACAL) and is currently doing his Doctorate in Philosophy, at the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences at the Virginia Polytechnic & State University (Virginia Tech), in Blacksburg, VA, USA.

His research is based on spatial ecology of animals, including the spatial associations between animal fitness, sociality, animal behaviour, habitat and inter-and intra-specific interactions. He is currently focused on these aspects and disease ecology in babded mongoose.

Therefore we are happy to welcome to our virtual corner Mongoose Pete, who will share his knowlege of the region with us.
